OUR HISTORY

Mount Gideon Baptist Church is located in a small community outside the historical town of Jackson, Louisiana.  The church was organized and founded in May 1946 under the leadership of Reverend Mack Henry Anderson along with Brother William Brown, Sister Zeolia Anderson, Sister JoAnna Barnes, Sister Carrie Gipson, Sister Pashon Polk and Sister Alice B. Hills.

Currently, we are truly blessed under the divine leadership of Pastor Calvin Willis, from May 26, 2001 to present.  Pastor Willis is a man after God’s heart, a man of purpose and a man of vision.  He promotes a vision for families as God has ordained the family structure.

Mount Gideon Baptist Church Ministry has grown because of the bond we share in honoring our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.  As our ministry continues to grow, we believe God will move us to another level in the kingdom of God.

HOW WE SERVE THE COMMUNITY

  • Mt. Gideon Tutoring Program
We offer a free tutoring program for the community on Wednesdays at 7:00pm.  Please sign up at the clerk’s office if you have a child that needs tutoring.
  • Food Pantry
MGBC seeks to serve those in need.  The youth are encouraged to bring non perishable items during youth service.  The items are packed and sent to the local food bank.
  • Feed A Family
MGBC provides a grocery box packed with items to cook a tasty holiday meal.  The boxes are issued to many families in need during the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays.
  • Nursing Home/Sick and Shut-In
MGBC has a compassion for the sick and shut-in.  We visit nursing homes in East and West Feliciana Parishes to share God’s love and encourage those that may feel forgotten.  The visit includes: Songs of praise, prayers and sharing the word of God.
  • St. Jude
On first Sundays during our benevolent offering, MGBC members give freely in order to be a blessing to the St. Jude Children Research Hospital.
